Who am I?
I was born and raised in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen in the southwest of the Netherlands. Since 2006 I live in the province of Groningen in the northern part, the best kept secret in the Netherlands . I am often outside. For a walk with our Frisian Stabyhoun Joes or for a run or walk in nature. Above all to enjoy nature (with a slight preference for birds) and, if possible, also to take some photos.
Since my early childhood I have been birdwatching, photographing and writing. After having built and maintained several websites, it became time for my own website in 2016. Here I can unite all these hobbies and share my results with a broader audience. A website in which I can also put my creativity. Creativity in building and further perfecting the site, but also in writing and photographing.
With my blog I want to let you enjoy nature with informative blogs, mostly about birds, butterflies and moths, but also other things that concern me. Of course well illustrated with photos of my hand. For the photographers among us: I use a Nikon D7100 and D7200 digital SLR camera. The lenses I use are 18-105 mm and 70-210 mm from Nikon and a 100 mm macro and 150-600 mm from Tamron.
I am an education volunteer at Staatsbosbeheer (a Dutch organisation for forest and nature conservation) and member of the Workgroup Nature and Environment in Duurswold (an area in the province Groningen), where I lead excursions and maintain the website. In September 2017 I started with the nature guide training of the IVN (a Dutch organisation for nature education and sustainability) and I hope to complete it in December 2018 with good results. In the future I would like to develop and expand my activities as a nature guide.
That was my story in short. If you want to know what interests me more, just check out the blogs that I wrote about it. Unfortunately these have not yet been translated. If you have any questions, points for improvement or comments about my website, please send me an e-mail.
With nature-friendly greetings,
Theo de la Ruelle
